Costa del Sol Golf Clubs near to Mijas Golf

If the 2 golf courses at Mijas aren't enough to keep you occupied on your golfing holiday there are over 40 golf courses on the Costa del Sol so you won't be short on additional places to choose from.

We've put together some details of a few of the best local courses other than Mijas Golf in alphabetical order to give you an idea of where else you may want to visit on your holiday.

Remember as with Mijas Golf most golf courses on the Costa del Sol require you to bring your handicap certificate with you.

Alhaurin Golf and Country Club

Designed by Severiano Ballestros there are 2 18-hole courses and a 9 hole course, par 72, at Alhaurin Golf and Country Club, offering some 45 different holes in total.

Alhaurin also has a swimming pool, riding centre and tennis courts for those members of your party that don't fancy a golf holiday.

Alhaurin Golf and Country Club is located further inland than the villa, some 10 minutes and 8km further up the main road to Alhaurin.

La Cala

La Cala is the only golf club on the Costa del Sol with 3 18-hole courses as well as a six hole par 3!

La Cala is within a 10 minute drive from the villa.

La Cala golf also has a driving range, putting green, pool, tennis, gym, sauna as well as a clubhouse and restaurant.

Cabopino Golf Marbella

Cabopino Golf Marbella is a relatively new club that opened in the spring of 2001.

Located opposite the small port of Cabopino between Marbella and Fuengirola the 18 hole, par 71 course is suitable for golfers of all levels.

Cabopino is also one of only a handful of Spanish golf clubs which is authorised to custom fit Titleist and Cobra golf clubs.

El Chaparral Golf Club

Just to the west of Fuengirola you'll find the El Chaparral Golf Club which recently re-opened in early 2006. El Chaparral has 1 18-hole course designed by Pepe Gancedo, with fabulous views over the local mountains and the sea.

Other facilities include a driving range, clubhouse and restaurant.

Guadalhorce Club de Golf

Guadalhorce Club de Golf is located 8km west of Malaga. It has a 18-hole par 72 course and a 9-hole course, par 3. The club house is a manor house. There are plenty of other sports facilities available to keep the non-golfers happy.

Miraflores Golf

Miraflores Golf has 1 18-hole golf course which is 5113 metres in length from the yellow tees. With fabulous over the Mediterranean and surrounding Mijas mountains Miraflores Golf is a great family oriented golf club, which welcomes golfers of all ages and standards.

Other facilities include a floodlit driving range, putting green, golf academy, clubhouse, bar/ restaurant and sauna. Miraflores is a 10 minute drive from the villa.

La Quinta Golf and Country Club

Further afield the La Quinta Golf Course has 27 holes in total, which can either be played all in one or as a separate 18 and a 9. The course is located a few kilometres outside San Pedro Alcantara and offers views of the coastline around Marbella and the local mountains.

The course was designed by Antonio García Garrido and Manuel Piñero and is a very challenging course that requires a high level of accuracy and skill to navigate the many hazards.

The golf school at La Quinta is run by Manuel Piñero. The club house facilities are regarded as some of the best in the area.

Santana Golf

Close to La Cala Golf and the villa, Santana Golf offers 1 18-hole golf course with wide fairways, large greens and is a flat course. The course has a creek running through it and rivers running alongside it.

Santana also has a clubhouse, restaurant, driving range and outting green.

Torrequebrada Championship Golf Course

Designed by Jose Gancedo, the golf course is an 18 hole, par 72 golf course.

The Torrequebrada golf course is regarded as one of the top ones in Spain having hosted many world class championships including the 1977 Spanish Open.

Torrequebrada is located between Benalmadena and Fuengirola on the coast.

9 hole golf courses

There are several golf clubs with only 9 hole courses close to the villa. The nearest are : La Noria, Artola Golf, Greenlife Golf and the private La Siesta golf club which also allows visitors.
